It’s easy enough to control your mobile music player from your Android watch. However, playing your favourite tunes from the watch itself, may be get a bit more complicated. Luckily, there’s no need to worry.

Once your watch is paired with your Android phone, you’ll need to make a quick stop at your music player’s settings and enable Wear Syncing – closer to the bottom of the main settings page. (here you can also upload your music library to Google, if you haven’t already).

You can sync any tracks in your offline music collection to the watch. Just find what you are looking for (whether an album or a playlist) and tap the Download button.

You will see that Play Music will instantly start syncing everything you have earmarked for offline caching over to the watch.

Now, head back to Settings and look for Manage Wear Downloads. Once in, you will every item that has already been synced to your smartwatch or is about to be. Here, you can use the watch button on the right of each line to enable or disable the syncing process. Alternatively, you can open Play Music on your watch and pick what you want to be synced from the offline music list.

Next step in the process, is pairing your watch to headphones. True, quite a few smartwatch models already come with built-in speakers, but, let’s face it, they probably won’t offer that concert-hall like quality you may be looking for.

So, let’s pair up the watch with Bluetooth headphones or a speaker.

Go to your smartwatch and head over to main Settings. Scroll down to Bluetooth devices. Make sure your headphones or speaker are in the pairing mode. You will then see them pop up in the list. Just tap on the right device, and your watch should pair in an instant.

To disconnect the headphones or speaker, just tap Unpair in the same menu.

Now to the fun part – the actual playing music. Open up Play Music on your smartwatch. A message will pop up asking if you want to pay music from your phone or watch – you know which one to go for. You will then see a list of all the available tracks. Tap once to play, tap again to pause. There you go!

Warning: enjoying too much music on your wearable will drain its battery quickly. Make sure you have a way to recharge when needed.

Thanks. I use my Moto 360 to listen to music also but normally not directly from the smartwatch. I use it to control the music I listen from the smartphone, though.
