Voice

Using your voice to search for stuff on Google is getting more and more popular among Android users. And why shouldn’t it? It’s quick, easy, handsfree and increasingly convenient.

However, you may or may not be aware – as much as you may or may not care – that most of your Google searches are recorded and are left to stay in Google’s servers for quite some time. While you may be in the habit of regularly deleting your browsing history, voice search is relatively new, and the need to do the same may not come to mind often.

However, here’s what you should know. Google does save your voice commands with a pretty good reason behind it: improving its voice recognition services. If you are okay with having your history out there, you can stop right here. If you feel like your voice search history does not belong there – Google gives you a simple way to first see what you have stored and then delete it.

To see what you have in your history simply go to your Google History page and log into your account.

You will then see Web and App Activity. This is where you will see all your search activity. What you want to do next is tap in the three lines in the upper left corner to get to the Voice and Audio list. Here you will see the history of all your voice searches and will also be able to replay each one of them. You can also delete the recordings one by one right here by simply tapping on the Delete button at the top of the page.

If you want to delete a whole group of recordings, click on the three dots in the top-right corner and go to Delete Options. In this menu, you will be able to choose which recordings you want to delete, based on the time they were made: Today or Yesterday. You will also have Advanced Options, which will allow you to delete recordings going back as far as Past 4 Weeks or All Time.

So, there you go – a quick and simple way to clear your voice search history.

However, if you want Google to stop saving your voice searches altogether, you can do that as well. Once again, tap on the three dots in the top right corner, choose Settings and toggle off your voice searches and commands option.

Bear in mind that this may affect Google Voice Search performance in the long term.
