How To Use Smart Lock In Android 5.0
If you are a lucky owner of the device with Android 5.0, you may benefit from three fun Smart Lock features. Here they are and here’s how to use them.
Trusted Faces
Trusted Faces is not a new feature in Android and the feature was already available with Android 4.0. As you may have guessed from the name, it allowed you to unlock your phone with your face, without entering a PIN. The problem with the feature at that point was that anyone with a good photograph of your face would easily be able to unlock the phone.
Later on, some extra functionality was added that included a “liveliness” feature, asking you to blink when setting up the unlock and when doing the actual unlocking.
In Android 5.0, the feature has been improved even further. As you can now see certain notifications on the locked screen, you can use Trusted Faces to interact with these notifications.
Trusted Places
Trusted places is a simple yet efficient and practical feature that uses your GPS and works in the background of your device. As long as GPS is enabled, Trusted Places will automatically bring down the security level on your device to a simple swipe once you get to one of the preset “safe” places, like home or office.
It’s a nice feature, as it allows you to relax when you are back home or at work and get quick access to your phone without messing with the settings. The key thing here is to remember to keep you GPS on.
Trusted Devices
Trusted devices is another option. It’s easy and simple and lets you “unprotect” your smartphone by pairing it with a Bluetooth device or scanning an NFC tag. Bluetooth is definitely the easier and quicker version, as after the setup is complete the unlocking will become automatic. With NFC things may take a bit longer, making it actually easier to unlock your screen the standard way.
