If you’re using Android 4.4 on your phone or tablet then at some stage you will either want to add or remove extra home screens. One big change that was introduced with Android 4.4 was the Experience Launcher that allows for an almost unlimited number of home screens bringing greater organization of your icons and widgets.

This is a straightforward guide on how to do this using the standard Google Experience Launcher. If your phone has a different launcher the method may vary but most follow the same sort of functions to get the job done.

This should work on most phones such as Samsung, Lenovo, HTC, Elephone, Doogee, ThL and also tablet PC’s running on the Android 4.4 platform.

Add a Home Screen.

By default your Kit Kat device comes with two home screens. To add a further home screen its fairly easy but because there are no clear indicators it could be a little tricky for new users at first.

All you need to do is tap and hold one of the icons on your current screen. This will then bring you into a transparent view that allows for icons and widgets to be added, removed or organized on the screen.

Just drag the icon you have pressed to the right edge of your screen and a new home screen will then appear automatically.

Remove a Home Screen

To remove a screen the process it’s just as easy. You can press and hold an icon on the screen then remove all the icons and widgets by dragging them to another home screen or by deleting them. Once there are no longer any items on the screen the Google Experience launcher will remove the unused home screen.

Android 4.2

This Kit Kat way is a little quicker and easier than the Android 4.2 method where you would enter the home screen by using a pinch motion or by pressing the home button and then all of your pages would show. After this you could long press on the ones you didn’t want and drag them to the top of the screen where you see a little ‘x’ or a trash bin, dropping them over this would open a confirmation box for them to be removed
