So, you’ve got a headrest monitor installed to keep the kids quiet entertained.

But it’s not working as well as it should because the headphones aren’t long enough and you can’t get the FM transmitter function to work.

Here at Chinavasion we feel your pain and this is why we have put together a quick ‘How To’ guide to walk you through setting up your FM transmitter on your headset car DVD player so it can send the audio to any FM receiver in the car.

That means anything from your main car stereo to your passenger’s personal radio.

For reference the headset we are using is the 7 Inch LCD Car Headrest DVD Player with FM Transmitter but the process should be exactly the same with any of our headrest monitors.

Here is the basic process to follow so that your car headrest DVD transmits the sound to a FM receiver read radio.

Basically, you want to watch a DVD on screen and output the sound to another device which has FM radio reception.

To do that you just load the DVD I want to watch into the DVD player and turn it on.

However, instead of watching the DVD, you should press the third button from the left of the unit (the CONSOLE button) and switch to the blue AUX (auxiliary) screen.

From the blue auxiliary screen, you press the fourth button from the left to bring up a setup menu which goes to the display setup by default.

However if you look below the silhouette of a person -The icon to represent the visual setup menu- you will see a musical note. This is the sound setup menu.

To get to it you just press the fourth button from the right. This will shift the selection bar down to the music menu. To select it press the third button from the right.

Use the fourth button from the right again to select the FM frequency then press it again to adjust the frequency.

The fourth button from the right will also change the frequency so just keep on pressing it until you find the one you like.

You can specify that audio is output to any FM frequency. I chose 87.7 just because 87.7 is a nice number. 666 on the other hand is not a nice number.

Then all you need to do is to tune in your other FM device to the same frequency (in this case 87.7FM) and you are good to go.

For this demonstration I used this 2GB Pocket Media Playstation that I am currently in love with because it allows me to play my favorite Nintendo games in emulation.

So essentially if you want to use the FM transmitter function on your headrest monitors all you need to do is to take the following steps:

  • Step 1: Turn the monitor on
  • Step 2: Go into the auxiliary menu
  • Step 3: Go into the sound set up menu
  • Step 4: Put the FM frequency on that menu to one that you won’t be intafered with one without a radio station
  • Step 5: Set the receiver to the same frequency
  • Step 6: Enjoy your movie

So that’s it. Get out there and enjoy your headset monitor, or if you haven’t already check out our huge range of headrest monitors.
