Chinavasion Bulletin: News, Tax, The Gaga And Android App Of The Week
What’s been happening in the world of Chinavasion this week?
Predictably the typhoon never came, veering off in another direction, so we will have to wait until next time to pick twigs out of our hair and see upturned cars and mayhem in the streets.
China is forever in the news though, and this week they have set a new world record for the fastest supercomputer. The ‘Tianhe-1A’ is based in China’s National Center for Supercomputing (does every country have one of these? I don’t think the UK does, we probably have a group of bearded, tweed-wearing men sitting in Bletchley park drinking tea in front of some BBC micros) and is said to be around 50% faster than the previous fastest which is in the States. It does have a use though, being used by the weather bureau and oil companies.
The The Red Ferret Journal has their finger on the pulse, and picked up on our cool mini keychain GPS tracker. There has been a lot of press given to GPS tracking devices lately, and this pocket-sized wonder is tiny enough to slip into a pocket and features 2 way calling, automatic text alerts and geo-fencing as standard as well as GPS tracking!
This week it’s been all about GPS which is great if you’re buying or selling as GPS is hot property right now! On Monday there was a handy guide to GPS which focuses on where to get help at Chinavasion’s site. So if you have questions, then here would be a good starting point.
Midweek we looked at yet more GPS with a blog onGPS navigation devices and GPS forums. This is useful because you can discover the types of GPS sat-navs that we have, but also the forums which are a really great way to get practical advice on any GPS issues.
Adrian’s Pick Of The Week
Oh my Lady Gaga! The GaGa – Super Slim 1080P Video Camera with 3.0 Inch Touchscreen is upon us. Ok, at around US$130 it’s not inflation-bustingly cheap like the items I usually choose, but to be fair that price is still crazy cheap for a true 1080p HD minicam with auto record, pre record and 12MP camera! Did I mention that it look gorgeous like the Lady herself?
Here Are Some Of The Customer Questions We’ve Been Asked Recently:
The importer is solely responsible for all import taxes, sales taxes, and any other customs-related charges.
Chinavasion accepts no liability for any such charges. Importing taxes and charges cannot and will not be quoted/predicted, and they cannot be reimbursed to you under any circumstances. If you have any questions regarding them however, please feel free to ask us and we will certainly help to give you any advice that we can!
If an importer refuses to pay taxes or otherwise refuses to comply with requirements of the importing or customs clearance process, the goods will usually not be delivered successfully. In such cases the goods could be seized by customs, destroyed, or returned back to China. In any such cases you, the importer, bear sole responsibility provided no error has been made by Chinavasion in following your order requirements.
You can find more about tax by checking the Chinavasion knowledgebase here.
Android App Of The Week
Do you have kids? Are you worried about perves snatching your peoples up? Then you’d be dumb, so dumb, not to get this app. Yes, it is paid, but at only US$0.99 (it’s on sale now) it is a really cheap way to benefit from the latest Augmented-Reality technology.
If Antoine Dodson says it’s ok then, erm ,it must be, but seriously, this app taps into the national sex offender database and then displays their location in realtime, so you can stear clear and avoid any people snatching. (The app only works in the USA and on GPS enabled phones. )

The Voyeur watch spycam. Who wouldn’t love this sneaky gadget!? With it’s 8GB memory it’ll take hours of sneaky footage, but actually doubles as a cool watch!
