What’s been happening in the world of Chinavasion this week?

Friday FAQ image
This week has been relatively quiet here in South China. Despite hot temperatures and bright sunshine it’s getting towards the middle of Autumn and this means it’s the time of year for Mid-Autumn Festival (next Wednesday the 22nd of September).

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the few most important holidays in the Chinese calendar, the others being Chinese New Year and Winter Solstice, and is a legal holiday in several countries. Farmers celebrate the end of the summer harvesting season on this date. Traditionally on this day, Chinese family members and friends will gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon, and eat moon cakes and pomelos under the moon together.

Anyone who knows Chinese people will know that festivals are always a very important time for the family to gather together for a big feast, and one of the things that has struck me in my four years in China is the bond between family members which seems so much stronger and more important than that in the West.

The stodgy, sweet mooncakes are full of fruit, nuts and other sweet foods and are a rich celebration. Go to your local Chinese supermarket soon and see if you can grab a box!

This week has been busy for blogs as ever, and we started off on Monday with a drop shipping guide for Europe. We understand that people in Europe have been hard hit by the global economic downturn, so drop ship reselling is a great way to make some extra money. Take a look to get some great ideas of how to start your own drop shipping business.

On Wednesday Adrian shared some shocking news with you: Beware! Because Chinese Android phones are invading your homes and countries. If you haven’t heard of Android yet, where have you been? This Android blog will fill all of the gaps in for you, and we bet you’ll be shopping for your very own cheap China Android smart phone very soon!

This week we’ve seen the release of a very cool, portable 2.4G Wireless Mini Keyboard with Touchpad + Laser Pointer. I’ve used this keyboard and for such a small item it’s really good quality, quite substantial in your hand and very versatile. I think it’s especially good for people with smart phones which can occasioanlly be a little difficult to type with (if you have sausage-fingers!).

Remember, keep checking the new products page for the latest releases, especially if you’re reselling!

Here Are Some Of The Customer Questions We’ve Been Asked Recently:

Does Chinavasion provide GPS software?

Chinavasion supplies GPS Hardware only. Customers should source GPS software in their local market, which could be in the form of a purchase or free download. We make it easier for you as our models are compatible with most brands of GPS software, such as TomTom, iGO and Route66, but hardware specific software such as Garmin may not run on these devices. Chinavasion provides no warranty or customer support regarding GPS software. Any software installation you undertake should be performed or supervised by a professional.
Anyone who is reselling or drop shipping Chinavasion’s GPS devices should also be aware that it’s essential to offer this disclaimer to your customers too.

“Do I have a warranty if I buy something from Chinavasion?”

Sure you do! In fact it’s a 12 month warranty. In general, if a product develops a fault during the 365 days since you received it, and the fault is due to a quality issue rather than your own breakage or misuse, we will accept a return. This means you can shop in confidence from Chinavasion as we will support you in the unlikely event that something isn’t right!

New Launch Focus

Last week we hinted at a groundbreaking car DVD. Well it’s finally broken cover…

They said the Road King couldn’t be improved. They were wrong.

Introducing the new Road King Pro, which is equivalent to a powerful pc, but in your car’s dashboard! This futuristic in-dash car entertainment, navigation, and communication supersystem features the top of the line SiRF Prima Dual Core 600Mhz Processor, the SiRF GRF3i+ GPS Receiver, 128MB of Mobile DDR RAM, a genuine licensed version of Windows CE 6.0, and 10GB of multimedia memory for the ultimate driving experience.

as strange as it sounds, The Road King Pro is essentially a car DVD player that doesn’t play DVD disks. Instead it comes with 10GB of disk storage space (8GB internal iNand flash + 2GB TF microSD card) so you can effortlessly play your downloaded movies and TV shows in the comfort of your car.

Think of it this way: Remember how the iPod replaced the Sony Discman? Yeah well it’s happening with in-car systems and the Road King Pro is leading the revolution! The benefit to you?

  • Clutter free cabin for peace of mind instead of DVDs and cases everywhere
  • Save your entire music collection in your Road King Pro!
  • Movies and TV shows don’t skip when the road is bumpy

It gets better though, because the Road King Pro is made by the same ODM factory which produces in-car units for big name car makers Honda, Toyota, and Volkswagen! Who said you should settle for less when buying a good value Chinese car DVD system?

  • I need to know what actual GPS software runs on this system?
Good question. When buying GPS software, make sure it meets the following criteria. It can handle the SiRF Prima chip, as well as for 800 x480 resolution, 128MB RAM, default 9600 baud, and communicates on COM port 1.

  • When I am pairing my cellphone with The Road King Pro, what is its device name and password?
The Bluetooth ID is “PND” and the password for pairing is “8888”

  • Where can I find some great wallpapers for customizing my Road King Pro desktop?
We like [http://www.desktopnexus.com/] or [http://www.deviantart.com/] and of course Google images is great too!

  • The touchscreen uses LVDS technology. What is that and how is that good?
For the full explanation, check out [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-voltage_differential_signaling]. Basically it’s an advanced graphical acceleration hardware technology.

  • What makes the SiRF Prima chip so special?
It’s the 5th and latest generation GPS chipset by the world’s leading GPS chipmaker, NASDAQ traded SiRF technology (SIRF).

  • Where can I get some good ebooks to take advantage of the Road King Pro’s text to speech audio ebook function?
    We like [http://www.gutenberg.org/] or [http://www.truly-free.org/].

Android App Of The Week

Browse huge catalogs of ebooks (most for FREE) or import your own ePub files.
Comfortable and customizable reading experience (font type, color, margin, night mode, etc.), bookmarks, full text search.Huge, cumbersome eBook readers are dead if you put this on your phone (although phones with smaller screens may be a bit of a strain on your eyes)

And Finally…

Apple and Samsung aren’t the only companies with tablets…
