The new OnePlus Nord has captured the attention of the smartphone industry. With the history of instant sales of many of its models, will OnePlus Nord be worth the wait? 

 

The smartphone world is buzzing with the news of the launch of a brand new smartphone from OnePlus. OnePlus is a mammoth in the smartphone industry in direct competition with Google Pixel and iPhones. The company is also in a close fight with Samsung for the top spot.

The company is a major player in India with a history of its phones being sold instantly due to popular demand. According to the information from Counterpoint Research, OnePlus was in the leading position in the Indian smartphone segment in Q3 2019 by a significant margin, beating both Samsung and Apple. 

The Chinese smartphone giant led the segment with a market share of 35 per cent, while Samsung and Apple followed with 23 per cent and 22 per cent respectively. A main reason why OnePlus has won the top position is because it captured the audience with its feature filled but affordable phones.

OnePlus Nord: The Affordable Smartphone:


OnePlus is at the center of attention again with the launch of a new smartphone, labelled OnePlus Nord. The Nord belongs to an “affordable smartphone product line” and is aimed at improving its market position and reaching new users. 

It was first expected to launch as the OnePlus 8 Lite and then later it was stated that it will be called the OnePlus Z. The company boldly went on create hashtag #OnePlusLiteZThing and opened an Instagram page with the same name intensifying the curiosity of their fans.  

A documentary series from the tech company lets you catch a glimpse of the Nord prototype and sheds lights to a few of its features and specifications and also the price.  OnePlus claims that Nord is here to make user experience fast smooth and effortless. 

In a press statement OnePlus said that the new model has taken into consideration the feedback from the company's community of users. The company also stated that it incorporates its flagship-level product and user experience standards. This points out to the fact that the OnePlus Nord would share some similarities with the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro.

OnePLus Nord will be released on July 21. The launch even will start at 2:00 pm UTC. It is first launching exclusively in India and Europe. This will be the first Augmented Reality (AR) launch of a smartphone as you can watch its release from your homes. If you want to be a part of this new AR launch experience you just need to buy an invite off amazon. After buying the invite, go to the OnePlus Nord website and scan your QR code to participate in the Nord AR live event.

According to a report, Paul Yu, Head of OnePlus Nord was quoted saying, “OnePlus Nord represents a new beginning for OnePlus, giving us an opportunity to share our technology with more people around the world. For this launch, we want everyone to sit back, relax, and experience our new phone for the first time right in the comfort of their living room. We feel that introducing Nord in a more personal and intimate way perfectly reflects our ambition to make the OnePlus experience more accessible to users.”

OnePlus has opened a competition to win the first 10 OnePlus Nord smartphones. It tweeted saying that the phones will be engraved #01 to #10 to prove the phones are from the first editions.

OnePlus Price

The company has revealed in the documentary series that the price of the new smartphone would be expected to be priced under $500. The company tweeted the Indian pricings are expected to be Rs.26,999 for 8GB+128GB storage variant and Rs.28,999 for 12GB + 128GB storage variant. 

What You Should Know about the OnePlus Nord

There have been multiple rumors and leaks describing the phone’s specifications. However, nothing is confirmed until the release.

According to what we have heard and read, OnePlus will feature a 6.55-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz high-refresh-rate. It will be equipped with a Snapdragon 765G processor and a base memory of 6GB. It is expected to possess a 4,300mAh battery and 30W Warp Charging. Some reports also say that the phone will feature a 5G modem built into its processor which will help with the battery life. 

The device is expected to have a 32MP primary camera and 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera on the front. On the rear panel, the phone could feature a 16MP ultra-wide camera with 64MP primary sensor, 2MP depth, and macro lens. The camera on the rear will be located on the top left corner.

The phone will also be able to handle 5G technology. It will supposedly have an under the display fingerprint sensor, compass, accelerometer, gyro sensor and proximity sensor.
