The Android 10 Update Mobile List

The newest Android phone update, Android 10 has been released with the first public rollout earlier in September for the Google Pixel. Android 10 will be coming to all of the Android phones soon, putting a stop the dessert naming convention. Android 10 brings with it some really awesome features that are set to change the way we operate in a number of methods, including the introduction of Bubbles, a more advanced and user-friendly Wi-Fi and QR code system, location control, privacy settings and much, much more.

Thankfully, Google has been working with a number of different Android device providers to ensure that Android 10 starts hitting phones as soon as possible. Those who have any of the Google phones, all the way from the Pixel to the Pixel 3a XL, will be able to head into their system update to start downloading Android 10 right now if you haven’t already. For users with phones from Sony, Huawei, LG, Nokia, OnePlus, Xiaomi and Asus, to name a few, were also part of the Android 10 beta, and these phones will likely be the next on the list to receive the upgrade.

Android 10 release soon

When Will Android 10 be Released?

This is a really interesting question. Because Google is the one who designed and develops the operating system, and other companies develop the phones, there’s always going to be a staggered release time and release date. Looking for an exact Android 10 release date for a specific phone is probably quite an easy thing to do, but it’s not exactly a science. These phone makers are usually very quiet on when their updates are coming, especially if it’s not in the next few weeks.

Thankfully, if you own a Google phone, the release date is the same as the release date of the operating system. The release time is right now, so make sure you update it as soon as you can.

The Android 10 Update Mobile List

We’ve highlighted some of the popular phone brands below along with what we know about their release time schedules.

Asus:

Asus has been working with Google on the latest Android 10 beta, so we know that the latest phone is likely going to get the update soon.

HTC:

Unfortunately, HTC has always been a little bit behind in the update side of things on their flagships. They’ve been rolling out Android Pie and their two newest phones haven’t had worldwide releases, so we’re not too sure here.

Huawei:

While the company has been participating in the Android 10 beta with the Mate 20 Pro and have confirmed that other devices have also been submitted to Google, Huawei was reportedly working on their own operating system too, since tensions have increased between the US and China.

LG:

The LG G8, the company’s big flagship phone has been involved in the Android 10 beta, so it’s likely to be out soon. Any phones other than that in the LG catalogue will likely be waiting a while.

OnePlus:

Surprisingly, OnePlus is actually really good with updates. They move onto new software quickly and like to support their users well. Everything from the OnePlus 6 and up will be jumping onto Android 10, but the older phones will likely see a bit of a wait.

Samsung:

The complete opposite to OnePlus, Samsung doesn’t exactly roll out fast. They launched a new UI recently with Android Pie but that’s all the movement they’ve had. We could be waiting a few months for this one.

Xiaomi:

New kid on the global market has two devices that were on trial with the Android 10 beta, so we should see this develop rather quickly and then spread throughout the range of phones that they offer.

Whether it’s the fact that Google just thought that the dessert-naming convention for their mobile operating system was getting old, or they couldn’t think of any fancy desserts starting with Q, Android 10 is the new official name for it.

Android 10 Features

Android 10 Features

With it, comes a lot of new and interesting updates including some things that people have been asking for, for quite some time, as well as a few things that might take some getting used to. One of those Android 10 features is the bubble UI that people either love or hate. If you’ve ever used Facebook Messenger chat heads, then you’ll be very familiar with it already.

Essentially, it allows users to keep conversations on-screen, no matter what you’re doing, so that it’s always at the forefront of your phone. The little, floating profile pictures can be swiped from side to side or simply cleared, but they’ll always give you the option to pop right into them if you want to continue the conversation. It’s a new way to multitask and Google has recognized that, and for now, is just coming to Messages and Hangouts, but should make its way to other apps like WhatsApp pretty soon.

Focus Mode

One of the more interesting Android 10 features is the Focus mode. It’s a digital wellbeing feature that allows users to curb phone addition. You can select a bunch of apps on your phone that are usually known to cause distractions and by enabling Focus mode, you can pause them for the entire duration of the mode. That’s it, no notifications, no alerts, nothing. You won’t be able to use these apps at all when Focus mode is on.

Dark Theme

Moving from a feature that isn’t quite useful and towards one that is going to be an absolute hit, Google has finally introduced a system-wide dark mode that will be coming to Android 10, called Dark Theme. Some of you with third-party phones may actually already have dark modes or dark themes, so this may not seem like such a big thing to you, but for a large portion of the Android population, it is.

You’ll get able to switch the Dark Theme on through the settings button that will switch between the two, or you’ll be able to turn on a Battery Saver mode, which will them automatically dim the screen and switch on the Dark Theme.

Foldable Phone Support

We’re not actually heading back into the past, but Android 10 and Google are both in preparation for the foldable phone fad that is scheduled to be coming imminently. Yes, the Samsung Galaxy Fold will be one of the first as it switches between folded and unfolded screen states, something that the operating system needs to be prepared for.

With native support for this UI, more foldable phones are likely to be released and supported by Android 10.

Gesture Controls

The world hasn’t changed much in terms of gesture controls and all other smartphones are trying to launch their own types of gestures while the Android operating system stuck with the 3 buttons at the bottom of the screen. This may be at an end as some previews have shown that there is only a single button at the bottom middle of the screen that can be swiped in four directions to move around the home screen of the new operating system.

Location Controls

Users have always been subject to the rather lax motion control support options which are now receiving a new update, thanks to the Android 10 operating system. Now, users will be able to control how and when apps use location information. The new OS will give users the option of allowing apps to access location only while using the app, a fix for privacy, but also something that’s going to save on battery life.

Undo App Removal

If you’ve ever accidentally removed an app from your phone’s home screen, then this change will be for you.

Android 10 will allow you to have a removed app recovered on the home screen for a few seconds after it’s been deleted. Never again will you be left with an accidental hole in the middle of your home screen, only to find that you can’t remember which app was actually there in the first place.

Wi-Fi and QR Codes

Google has finally transported Wi-Fi sharing into the future with this new Wi-Fi update and QR coding. Basically, when someone comes to visit you, you can jump into your phone’s Wi-Fi settings and create a QR code for friends and family to scan, putting them straight onto your home Wi-Fi network. Not only can you share it across with a QR code, but you can also share it with fellow visitors.

Getting Rid of the Beam

Perhaps one of the few features that Android 10 is going to lack when moving over from the current version is the Android Beam. The peer-to-peer sharing method that was once used to transfer data from phone to phone will no longer be part of the operating system. There’s no word yet on whether or not Google is going to replace the Android Beam with something else, it remains to be seen.

Conclusion

Android 10 is coming and there’s nothing you can do to avoid is, save from getting yourself a really old phone. For some, the updates that the new operating system comes with is going to change the way that you use your phone. With some of the other features that we’ve listed above, you’ll also get to experience new features like live captions, support for 5G, new privacy features, better notification controls and much more.

It appears that Google, while deciding to ditch the dessert names for their operating system, has decided to focus far more on some useful and requested features that people have been on the lookout for, for some time.
