The firm behind the new range of Nokia mobiles phones, HMD Global, has launched 4 new smartphones at the MWC – one for every price bracket.

The Flagship of these 4 new phones is the Nokia 8 Sirocco while the Nokia 7 Plus is the company’s big-screen offering and the Nokia 6 is a mid-range contended with the Nokia 1 taking on the budget end of the market.

Nokia 8 Sirocco

The Nokia 8 Sirocco is the flagship launch that Nokia fans have been waiting for.  This Android smartphone has a premium metal and glass design and sports a 5.5-inch QHD OELD screen. With a Gorilla Glass coating and stainless steel frame this phone certainly looks the part.

The chipset is last year’s Snapdragon 835 and is accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Dual rear facing cameras sit above a fingerprint scanner and with Android Oreo 8 and face unlock the Nokia 8 Sirocco has a lofty spec sheet that justifies its $900 price tag. (about €749 or £660).

While the phone is a little more expensive than say the OnePlus 5T it is similar in price to the Moto Z2 Force and a fair bit cheaper than the iPhone 8. However, with so many great offerings it is up against some serious competition.

Nokia 7 Plus

The Nokia 7 Plus is the big-screen offering that won’t cost an arm and a leg. With a 6-inch Full HS display that has an 18:6 ratio it is great for videos and games. A snapdragon 660 chipset and 4GB of RAM ensure it has plenty of punch in the processing department while a dual rear camera that is the same as the Noika 8 Sirocco will bring you decent photo capabilities.

The Nokia 7 Plus is set for release in April 2018 and if you’re looking for a big screen phone on a budget it could be a good contender as it will come in at about $490 which is approximately €399  or £350.

Nokia 6 (2018)

The new, second generation of the Nokia 6 is a continuation of the solid mid-range handset that was the first gen. It has a 5.5 inch full HD display a Snapdragon 630 chipset and 4GB of RAM. This gives it more power than the older Nokia 6 and with an aluminum body and faster charging its worth the slight price increase from the January 2017 Nokia 6.
The first Nokia 6 struggled to keep up with its entry-level Snapdragon 430 chipset, but by increasing the power of the new Nokia 6 by giving it a Snapdragon 630 chipset and Adreno 508 GPU it should have no issues handling high-end games.

There will be two versions of the new Nokia 6, one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage the other with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.
This Android phone is also due out in April 2018 and will the 4GB RAM 64GB storage version should be priced at about $299 which works out about €279 or £269.

Nokia 1

The Nokia 1 is a sub $100 phone with a difference, it runs the ‘Go Edition’ of Android which is the software specially designed for phones with less power. This is just as well because the Nokia 1 has a MediaTek MT6737M chipset and 1GB of RAM. With its 4.5 inches, IPS display and 8GB of storage the phone isn’t going to be too speedy but it is super cheap and offers a solid smartphone experience.  Although the OS is slightly paired down you are getting Android 87 Oreo here and despite an uninspiring design it’s hard to argue with what you get for the price.

Nokia 1

It’s has a plastic body and the rear case comes off, this is also interchangeable with different colors available. Its small size sits comfortably in the hand and it feels fairly solid – not as tough as the Nokia 3310 but I’m sure it could survive a few drops.

The lackluster 854×480 resolution isn’t going to dazzle you but its plenty good enough for reading text, surfing the web and even games will look ok on it. You won’t get anything special form the 5MP rear camera or the 2MP selfie snapper but hey this is a phone with an $85 price tag (about £60) what more do you want.

Conclusion
With these 4 new smartphones launched at the MWC Nokia is set to have an entry at every price point and each one of them is really competitive so are worth considerations.

Oh, an I almost forgot to mention that all of the Nokia smartphones have been signed up to the Android One which ensures that they will be getting the next two Android OS rollouts as well as 3 years of security updates so there is plenty of life in them. You will also benefit from a  very clean stock version of Android that comes as Google intended it to be, clean and free of any interference or annoying skins.

Nokia Banana Phone

For those phone lovers who like to keep life simple Nokia has also launched the Nokia 8110 4G feature phone, that has been called the banana phone. The Nokia 8110 is a reboot of the iconic phone that fans of the Matrix will probably remember. Heck if it’s good enough for Neo. This is a curved feature phone which takes us back to the good old days of mobiles. and is set for a release in May 2018. The price should be somewhere around $100.
