Are you wondering what devices you will be seeing this year at the WMC? Read on to know more about the mobiles and gadgets being introduced.

What to Expect This Year?

This year is going to be great for modern users as Samsung has announced to bring the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus to the market. Huawei has promised to showcase an extraordinary phone, the P11 or P20 (rumored to be called). It is said that we will see the Sony Xperia XZ Premium 2 and LG G7 phone releases this year at the MWC. Along with this, it is expected that several new phones, tablets, and gadgets will be launched. However, we believe there will be no new phones from HTC as it lately introduced HTC U11 Plus and of course Apple will probably save its major announcements for later in the year when it holds it’s own showcase event in California.

Have a look a closer look at the devices launching at the MWC 2018 in detail.

Samsung

The company has released the statement saying that they will be displaying the most awaited phone Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. The phone will have the same design and screen like Galaxy S8. This means the phone will have a metal frame, nearly bezel-free curved screen, and glass back. These specs are anticipated in the new phone but with a better iris scanner, a higher camera with 2 lenses, and more power.

You never know the company might take this opportunity to launch a new wearable or shed more light on the foldable Galaxy X.

BlackBerry

TCL has promised to release 2 new BlackBerry devices this year. The bad news is that it is unknown what they are working on and when will they will unveil it. We believe they are working on a better version of BlackBerry KEYone. The company didn’t take the wraps off at the Consumer ElectronicsShow, it is expected that they will announce it at the MWC. The company can announce an Android touch phone that will be at a reasonable end.

Google

It is speculated that Google will be expanding the reach of its famous Google Assistant at MWC. There are talks about seeing a new version of Google Home. Google is known for conducting separate events for the introduction of new devices and phones so we will probably have to wait until later in the year for any new handsets or tablet PCs. So, it is expected to see a refreshed version of Google Assistant at MWC 2018.

Huawei

In the previous year, the Vice President of the company stated they will most likely launch their flagships at the WMC. So, we are anticipating to see P11 that will be a photography focused phone. It will have a bezel-free screen, 40MP triple lens rear camera with 5x zoom and a 24MP front camera for exceptional selfies. Along with this, it will feature a similar system like Apple’s Face ID. Moreover, it is rumored the phone will be named P20 and it is anticipated the successor of the Huawei Watch 2 will be launched as well.

LG

We expect to see a new version of their flagship phone, LG G7. Nonetheless, the company disappointed by claiming that phone will not appear until April. The company mentioned they are working on the phone from scratch and will take a little longer. The phone might have a Snapdragon 845 chipset with an OLED screen. So, there are chances that the phone might be a no-show at the MWC 2018. It is also rumored that the company will change the name of the phone from LG G7. We believe that LG will launch something new at the MWC, probably a new smartwatch.

Sony

This year, Sony promised to launch 4 smartphones, out of which 3 are already introduced. Its leading smartphone series Xperia is set to have an addition. It is said that Sony will be launching Xperia XZ Premium 2 at the MWC 2108. The phone will be small in thickness, width, and height. It is assumed that the phone will have taller screen 18:9. According to some rumors, the compact phone could have a 5.7 inches 4K screen, dual camera, and an OLED. This will be the first Sony phone with a dual camera and an OLED screen. However, there is no evidence to back this up. The company has introduced phones at affordable end, so it is anticipated we will not see a mid-range device at the MWC. The word has spread the phone will be called XZ Pro.

Motorola

At the CES 2018, the company announced a plethora of gadgets including Mirage Solo, Snapdragon-powered Windows 2-in-1, Smart Display, and VR180 camera. There was no phone announced, so it is anticipated that Lenovo will be launching a Moto X, E, and G this year. According to the leaked news, the company will be unveiling Moto G6, G6 Play, and G6 Plus. All the phones will feature outstanding specs while being affordable. We will see X5 in an all screen complete with a notch at the top of the screen. On the other hand, G6 will be a better version with low price.

Nokia

The is said that Nokia has been preparing for introducing Nokia 9. The phone is designed to compete with other leading phones. We are expecting to see the global launch of Nokia 6 at the MWC 2018, as it has been launched in China in January. Additionally, the HMD Global has assured to bring excellent news in 2018. It is possible that we will be seeing a low-end phone Nokia 1 and a new variant of 3310 featuring 4G connectivity.

Xiaomi

Recently, it was revealed that the Chinese company, Xiaomi will also be present at the MWC 2018. So, it led us to believe that the company will be announcing its new top phone. There will be no surprise if the company introduces XiaomiMi 7. Another smartphone Xiaomi has been working on is Xiaomi Mi Max 3. It is a mid-range phone with a super long lasting battery. We are excited to see how the company will surprise us this time.

Alcatel

We predict that Alcatel will not be bringing anything new since it recently launched a new plan for its phones and hardware at CES 2018. However, it is rumored Alcatel 3C can see the light of day.

Asus

Previously, Asus has announced leading smartphones at the MWC, however, we are not sure what it will be showing us this year. The Asus ZenFone 4 was released in the second half of 2017, it will be too soon to anticipate Asus ZenFone 5 at the MWC 2018. We are expecting to see new hardware by Asus as it is on the list of attendees.

Some Other Technologies We Expect To See

Qualcomm

The semiconductor giant had been busy this year with CES, but this doesn’t mean the company has nothing up their sleeves. It is safe to assume the company will be talking about Snapdragon 845 SoC. This system will be powering the Samsung Galaxy S9. Moreover, we will see the first audio products that will feature the nascent Low Power QCC5100 SoC.

Foldable Phones

Samsung has announced that it is working on a groundbreaking technology of foldable phones. The long-awaited Project Valley can make an appearance at the MWC 2018. In this project, a tablet of 8 inches can be turned into a smartphone of 5 inches. Although there is no proof of this news yet, we can expect to see it at the exhibition.

Therefore, make your plans to visit Barcelona this February to become a part of the biggest mobile event and the excitement it brings. Stay tuned for more updates and the latest news about MWC 2018.
