AI for Xiaomi

With over 100 stores in China, more than 110 million Redmi Phones sold globally, and 23+ million units of Mi Bands shipped – Xiaomi is definitely a name to reckon in the consumer electronics market holding 12% and 30% smartphone and wearable’s market share in China respectively.  In order to succeed in the competitive smartphone industry, Xiaomi is tapping into the Artificial Intelligence market to stay ahead of the competition and plans to expand its development team by 50% to facilitate innovation in the era of AI. Xiaomi launched an Artificial Intelligence innovation lab in November 2016 and has invested heavily in machine learning to nurture the growth of cool AI driven products. In the next 10 years, the company’s core strategy will focus on incorporating Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning everywhere with the next generation of smartphones to be released in 2018 incorporating AI.

High-quality technology does not need to cost a fortune and the best example for this is Xiaomi, the darling of the Chinese market. Xiaomi popularly known as the Apple of China for manufacturing fresh new designs( that strike similarity with iPhones) at super economical prices is all set to lead the technological revolution with the use of Artificial Intelligence. With millions of people across the globe using various smart products from fitness bands to air purifiers, Xiaomi’s next move to make technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning transform people’s lives will pay off.

Xiaomi to Make Smart Devices even Smarter with AI and Machine Learning

Not just the smartphones but Xiaomi plans to incorporate AI to manufacture a wide range of intelligent devices in future.

“Even a chair can be smart enough to understand you and move to where you would be seated.” said co-founder and Vice-president Wong Kong Kat who leads the company’s efforts in AI and virtual reality.

Xiaomi is considered to be the world’s biggest IoT (Internet of Things) company as of now with 50+ million devices connected around the world including connections from smart lamps, smart rice cooker, Mi Fitness bands, smart weigh scale, and more, all of which can be controlled through the smartphone. Xiaomi’s AI technology will have a large user base and millions of its users will benefit from the use of sensors and AI processing components in home electronics. AI-based smart products will provide users personalized advice –such as new discount coupons of nearby stores being pushed to their smartphones, smart rice cooker cooking rice based on their taste, or receiving customized fitness tips based on the data these devices generate.

Xiaomi entered the smart speaker race with its AI-based Smart Speakers in July 2017 for just $45 giving a tough competition to Amazon Echo. AI Speaker is designed to work with every member of the family regardless of the age. Artificial Intelligence technology based speaker can wake you up in the morning, read pre-configured news broadcast, and much more. The AI-powered technology provides the ability to take control of other Mi Home appliances like the smart plugs, smart lamps, kettle, etc. The most interesting feature about the speaker is its ability learn when trained. One can have conversations with it, ask various questions and also turn it into a tutor for children.
