On Saturday we informed you of potential delays that could hit international shipping due to the volcano in Iceland in the blog: Volcano In Iceland Grounds Planes, Will China Shipping Be Delayed?

Since then, our shipping team has been in constant contact with couriers to get the latest information on whether or not items would be sent and what the best course of action for Chinavasion and Chinavasion customers would be.

Today one of our hardworking staff members got some answers:

FedEX

“Due to the Volcano eruption in Iceland , our flight schedule has been affected and from April 17 ( pick up date) shipments to Europe are all suspended for departure until further notice.”
“We do not accept shipments above 300kg , but for below 300kg shipments we can still pick up but can’t confirm the departure time .”

DHL and UPS

DHL and UPS responded with a similar statement although DHL did say that they would refuse to handle any more packages over 31 KG for the time being.

What does this mean for Chinavasion and others sourcing from China companies?

What this means for you is that if you place an order through us for anything under 31KG through DHL and 300KG through FedEX or UPS then we will continue to give it to the courier in question, they will continue to give us a tracking number which we will give to you as soon as we have it and your order will get a place in the queue.

It’s like a big line at a fast food restaurant. While the queue may be slow its better to be in it then sitting outside the line waiting for it to clear.

For people looking to order over 31kg (for DHL) or 300kg (for FedEX and UPS) please send an email to and we will help you with a solution.

We will endeavor to help you in the same record-setting time you have come to expect from Chinavasion as we are sure everything will return to normal very shortly. However, as one old proverb goes, forewarned is forearmed so keep an eye on the blogpost Volcano In Iceland Grounds Planes, Will China Shipping Be Delayed? and we will keep you updated as developments unfold.
