Friday FAQ’s, The Gift Declaration Myth And Credit Cards In Paypal

It’s been a busy week at Chinavasion.

We put together a no holds barred on import tax called Global ECommerce And Import Taxes, The Awful Truth, we took a look at March’s Hottest Gadgets For Resellers and we showed you the link to a very exciting projector phone, the Mighty.

 

So without further ado lets look at some of the more common questions we saw this week.

Can you declare as a sample or as a gift?

Dealing as an international wholesaler we have sent more than a few packages to more than a few countries.

Something we’ve seen happen quite frequently is people sending us an email or adding a note to their order to ask us to mark a package as either ‘gift’ or ‘sample’.

Unfortunately we are not able to offer that service because in the vast majority of countries worldwide, declaring goods as a “gift” or “sample” makes no difference whatsoever to the assessment of the value / taxability of the goods at Customs.

Customs officials usually pay more attention to the declared value indicated on the shipping invoice and not the reason the item has been sent…. cold-hearted people that they are.

I’m in Spain can you provide any suggestions on declaration?

Our survey on Spain customs taxes shows that customers tend to be taxed heavily if they choose DHL/UPS as shipping methods. Based on that, we suggest our customers to choose FedEx for shipments to Spain.

 

My customer refuses the package because the customs tax was too high. Can you refund me?

Unfortunately, as Chinavasion begin_of_the_skype_highlighting     end_of_the_skype_highlighting talked about in her blog Global ECommerce And Import Taxes, The Awful Truth import taxes are one beast that Chinavasion and any other international wholesale dropship company will be unable to tame.

As a result we leave the import duties up to you (the importer) and by sending your customer the package, we have fulfilled all our legal obligations.

It’s important as an international trader, you do the research yourself into what import tariffs you or your custome is likely to have to pay and either warn them about it or work out some way to pay for them yourself.

If you’ve done all this and your customer still refuses the item your one option is to contact the shipping company and ask them to reroute the item to you.

To do that you need to take the following steps:

1. Get in contact with the shipping company and give them the following details:
   • The content of the shipment
   • The address, phone number and the name of the person it was going to be shipped to
   • The tracking number
   • Your address and phone number so the shipping company can redirect the package
2. Send an email to and let us know what happened so that we can authorise the re-direct.

 

You say I can pay with credit card through PayPal, how do I do that?

This is actually easier to do than you think and just requires that you take a badly signposted detour on the Paypal page.

After taking all the steps in the blog How To Order And Shop Online With Chinavasion you should be in the checkout screen which looks like this:

 

 

 

You’ll see there is the option to pay by PayPal, you should select it and then click on the ‘proceed to place order’ button.

You should automatically be taken to PayPal but if this does not happen then paste this URL into your browser: paypal.com .

Once you’re there click on the link to the left of the page…. above all the credit cards.

That should take you to a page that looks like the one below and you can then put in your credit card details just like you would on any other site.

Mighty 3 Inch Touchscreen Cellphone with Projector [CVMA-M77] There were projectors and there were cell phones and never the twain did meet. Untill we released the Projector Phone that was.

And while the projector phone was very popular with our customers the Mighty separates the two functions for the same price… essentially giving you two gadgets for the price of one.

• How can I turn ON the projector?

  After you have connected the projector to the cellphone, long press the TV out button on the cell phone keypad.

• Does the cellphone need to be connected to the projector in order to display the image on the TV?

  No, you can connect the mobile phone directly to your TV with out having to connect it the project head.

• What is the recommended time for the use of the projector?

  As the projector uses LED technology, and due to its compact form factor size, heat is generated. The maximum time recommended for the projector being in use is maximum of 1 hour.

• Is it possible to project a display through the projector and still view the image on the TV screen?

  Yes, located at the rear of the projector, is a side switch with a USB logo on one side and a mobile phone logo on the other side, just slide the switch to the USB side and you will have double projection, emanating from the projector and the other displayed on your TV.
