Apple Attends 2017 Mobile World Congress Barcelona As An Exhibitor

Apple is listed as an exhibitor at the Mobile World Congress Barcelona, marking the company’s first time attending the MWC – world’s largest annual exhibition and conference for the mobile industry that takes place in Barcelona between the 7th of February, 2017 and the 2nd of March, 2017. Many of latest Android phones that are scheduled for launch in 2017 will be announced during this year’s annual event.

The presence of Apple at the GSM Mobile World Congress will bring back some life into the show, considering that two global players have said not to announce any new flagship electronics at this years’ event. Samsung will keep a low-profile presence at the show by not announcing any new smartphones and one of China’s largest and most innovative tech companies Xiaomi won’t attend WMC 2017 altogether. Interesting is, however, that Nokia will attend this year’s Mobile World Congress Barcelona – announcing its latest flagship Android phone: the Nokia P1 Android Smartphone. Along with this absolutely stunning smartphone, the Finnish company is also expected to give a sneak peek into its soon to be launched 18.4-inch Android Tablet.

According to the latest Mobile World Congress announcements, Apple is listed as an exhibitor at the Mobile World Congress Barcelona and has booked three spaces. Although its two upper-level spaces appear to be regular meeting rooms that are not open for regular public, the company is also scheduled to appear with a public stand in Hall 8 at the App Planet Stand.

The App Planet is described as a unique area at the Mobile World Congress that focuses on the latest technology related to the rapidly developing and fast-moving Apps industry. Therefore, it is highly likely that Apple’s presence at the Barcelona Mobile World Congress 2017 could be related to promoting its App Store Ecosystem or their soon to be launched reality show; Planet of the Apps.

Apple’s upcoming reality series, Planet of the Apps, is set to be realized in 2017. This new TV show will be an X-Factor-like show in which App developers are challenged to create the best future Apps for in Apple’s App store.

For the moment it has to be kept in mind, however, that Apple’s attendance at the Mobile World Congress Barcelona is still uncertain. Apple representatives were not immediately available for comments and, shortly after the announcement was made that the company would attend, Apple was removed again from the attendance list.

Throughout the past decade, Apple steadily stopped attending trade shows such as the MWC Barcelona and CES in Las Vegas. Instead, the company tends to announce news and products at its own events. Although the real status on Apple’s attendance at the show is still unknown and company representatives are not willing to provide further information, the official website of the Mobile World Congress Barcelona still suggests that the American company might show up at their 2017 expo.
