Waffle – A New Social Network By Samsung
As soon as you get to thinking that the world has all the social networks it could ever need – here comes a new one.
Waffle (that very new social network) is being developed by Samsung as we speak. The app promises to be different from the other social networks currently available (as much as that can be) – and “offer a new, differentiated service that illustrates multiple points of view to generate a collaborative story”, according to the company.
So what do we know so far?
- Number one is that Waffle is still a project. And that means that it may not see the light of day. Or it may be the “the next big thing”. We’ll have to wait and see.
- Waffle is image-based and looks like a grid (hence the name).
- Waffle allows you to post pictures and lets you friends annotate them – with other pictures, graphics and other visuals in the squares surrounding your pic. Basically, the networks lets you form a grid of visual comments. Here’s how it works
The idea behind the network is that it’s a virtual graffiti wall. In fact, this is exactly what the company calls it – “a communal graffiti wall”.
Will the new network be a success? We can’t really know until it’s been released, tried out, addicted to or left behind by the competitors. If all goes well, we might be seeing the app on our Android or iOS devices later this year.
