Homes aren’t just places where a person comes to rest at the end of a day. Homes are a reflection of comfort, taste and style. As such a home needs to have all the creature comforts that bring a family together and make the space livable, lively and entertaining. Here’s our take on some of the most must have gadgets in homes today.
A smart thermostat is a device that senses the number of people in a room, and accordingly decides the temperature, of the room. The objective is to maintain an even temperature throughout the home and as such save electricity. Smart thermostats are part of an era of smart devices that are driven by the Internet of Things that makes these devices communicate with each other and enables them to take actions designed to make our lives that much more comfortable. There are integrated systems with many different sensors that can help manage and control your home environment and also let you monitor them when your out so you can save electricity, keep the perfect temperature and be alerted to any events or intruders.
Air fryers work on the principle that food can be cooked with minimal oil, and at a high temperature. This results in less greasy, oily food and is better overall for the heart. A light drizzle of oil is all it takes and an air fryer cranks up the heat in order to give one the effect of deep fried food with nearly 80% less oil, how any home can do without this is beyond us and it could well replace all deep fat fryers as we move towards a healthier lifestyle.
The next step in the evolution of televisions. Smart TVs are essentially devices enabled by an operating system like Android or Samsung’s Tizen. What these operating systems do is that they enable a user to access the internet, stream media and huge amount more through their televisions. Users can broadcast online content from YouTube, Vimeo and other web video sites. HD content and internet and smartphone based games can also be played on the larger screens, some newer TVs have these functions but many more can attain these features using a TV box or dongle.
Smartphone gaming consoles:
While traditional XBox and PlayStation gaming consoles still rule the roost for most hardcore gamers, a new generation of games on smartphones are now powering the rise of smartphone gaming consoles. Augmented reality gaming consoles like the Oculus Rift are changing the way we perceive things, there are also many other smartphone based consoles that will soon be vying for attention in the home entertainment space.
Customizable LED lighting:
Systems like the Philips Hue which enable a user to create customized LED lighting solutions, interior designers see as the next big techie change. At the heart of the system is a receiver that coordinates all the instructions conveyed to the unit and syncs in real time with the app. There is a huge amount of LED lighting that can be controlled through a smartphone or even set them to sync with your music or TV bring another dimension to your movies or musical entertainment.
Magnetic storage strips:
Imagine being able to walk into the kitchen, and hang your plate on the wall without hooks. Of course all your plates would have a steel strip on their back. And being a storage strip, they would stick, because these strips would contain magnets that held the steel backed ceramics in place, it may not sound like much but it could be a really great way to save on storage space.
Owning a home in the most prestigious residential location is a dream almost every one of us cherish.
