Don’t Forget That Google Maps Is Now Available On Apple Watch

No matter how serious of an Apple fan you may believe yourself to be, it is still quite hard to make a favourable comparison between Apple Maps and Google Maps (with Apple Maps clearly lagging behind). So, if you are the lucky Apple Watch owner, you may be happy to know that Google Maps is now available on Apple Watch.

A new update for Google Maps on iOS has been available since September 29^th, and you can now increase your smartwatch’s functionality in one single step.

How do Google Maps work on your Apple Watch?

The answer is: quite simply. As you open up Google Maps on your Apple Watch, two options will pop up for you to choose: getting directions to your home or your office.

Note: Information about these locations will be taken from your existing Google Account.

You can then select the way you plan to use to get there, i.e., walking, driving or transit directions. To select between them, just long press the screen. Once the route has been selected, your watch will display the road to follow and help you navigate to your destination, warning you about upcoming turns.

The watch version of Google Maps is quite minimalistic – it gets the job done, but you won’t get an extended functionality, like seeing a full map on your display.
