Google may be looking to China for the Next Nexus Phone
There are several Chinese phone manufactures that are gearing up in efforts to win the prestigious rights to cooperate with Google on the Nexus Smartphone.
Lenovo, Xiaomi Technology, Huawei and LG Electronics are all in the running apparently and there are strong cases for each of these manufactures.
LG has already worked with Google on the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 so have a proven record and Google is likely to choose a China based Smartphone maker with their next model in a bit to strengthen its presence in the Chinese market. Whether they will go with LG or choose to develop a relationship with another production partner is however still unknown.
Lenovo recently purchased Motorola from Google and being one of the largest and fastest growing phone manufactures around is in a good position to service Google’s needs.
Xiaomi Technology’s vice president of sales, Hugo Barra, is a former Google executive and could be instrumental in winning this business for the company known as Little Rice. He certainly gives them the inside track.
Huawei’s strong performance of late could be impressive enough to win over Google and they’re more than capable of developing top quality handset solutions in-house as well as being present in many developed and emerging markets, all of which makes them a strong candidate.
As of yet we don’t know for sure who will be making the next Nexus Smartphone but with such strong completion from Chinese manufactures there’s a good chance it will be made in China.
