Great News for UK Dashcam Owners
Reported on by the BBC this week was that most UK insurance companies will now accept dashboard camera footage in disputed claims.
A Dashcam also known as car DVR is a small forward facing camera that can be mounted on the cars dashboard or windscreen. The primary job of these dashcams is to record footage of the road ahead. In this way they can capture accidents that either the driver is involved in or witnesses.
While it’s still paramount that drivers collect as much evidence as possible in a claim ,such as details of other motorists who may have witnessed the collision, the news that many insurers will now accept this recorded footage as evidence makes protecting yourself easier.
When asked by Nexbase, 29 insurers advised that they would consider using dashcam footage as evidence in a claims process.
When put alongside independent witness statements and other evidence this could be really helpful in determining fault when claims are disputed. It’s expected that the rising trend in dashcams will continue to grow in the UK and other countries which is great news for consumers and sellers alike.
