How To Copy Instagram Photos Onto Your Computer Or Smartphone
You may have already noticed, that unlike other social media, Instagram does allow you to directly save your images right from the app onto your laptop, PC or smartphone. So, basically, once you have taken a photo within the app and uploaded it to your account – that’s the only place you will see them.
But the fact that there is no direct way to accomplish the task, doesn’t mean there are no solutions to the issue. Actually, there are plenty. In this post, we’ll quickly go over a few of these ways to make sure you have personal access to all your Instagram-born pics.
Copying Instagram Photos Through Instaport.me
One way to keep your Instagram library synced with the one on your laptop or PC is to use the website instaport.me. Instaport lets you copy all or some of your Instagram photos onto a folder on your computer and does that in quite a simple manner.
First, go to the website and log into your Instagram account. The website will ask you to authorize access to the contents of your account – go ahead and click “yes”.
Next, you will be given a few options as to the number of photos you want to copy. You will have three options: copying all your photos, the last 10 (you will have to type in your own number here) of photos you took or copying the pictures taken within a certain time period, say April 15th 2014 to August 25th 2014.
Depending on how rich your Instagram library is and the option you picked, the process may take different amounts of time. Once you are done, the photos will be on your computer in a zip folder. All that’s left to do in unzip it and go through your pics, which will appear in jpeg format.
Copying Instagram Photos To Your Smartphone
If you’d rather prefer to keep a backup of your Instagram library on your phone – there’s way to go about it as well. Fire up your Instagram application and head over to Settings (which you can find under the “three dots” symbol in the top right corner of the screen). Scroll down to the bottom and make sure the feature “Save Original Photos” is enabled. You will also have the option of doing the same for videos by checking Save Videos After Posting. Before enabling both options, though, consider if your phone has enough storage to handle all the backups.
Alternatively, and if you don’t want to clutter your smartphone or laptop with more photos, you always have the option of syncing your Instagram account with Facebook. The all your Instagram pics will appear on your Facebook page under Album>Instagram photos. And should you ever want to download them from Facebook – that’s easy: jus right click on the photo and choose “Save Image As”.
