These Hidden iOS 8 Tricks Will Make Your iPhone Feel New Again
As Apple released its new mobile operating system for iPhones and iPads, iOS 8, there are some of a best new features on iOS 8 are ones we substantially haven’t used yet. Luckily, we found Marshable compiled a list of “14 hidden tricks and tools of iOs 8.” Here are some of them:
1. Hide Photos
There’s a neat feature that hides your photos without deleting them. Tap and hold a photo in the Photos app and an option to “hide” will surface. You’ll be able to remove it from Collections, Moments and Years and keep it in the Hidden album. No one needs to know how many pictures of your cat you take on a daily basis.
2. Mute Texts
iOS 8 gives you the option to mute alerts for text-message notifications from specific people. By choosing “Do Not Disturb” under “Details” in a conversation, it makes messages you don’t want others to see a little more inconspicuous. While this feature might be even better if it hides messages from the home screen all together, at least there’s a way to keep the volume down if you’re expecting an onset of texts from a certain someone throughout the day.
3. More text control
By highlighting a text message and selecting “More,” you can delete text messages in your conversations one by one.
4. Scan your credit card
While making a purchase online, your Safari browser allows you to scan your credit card rather than typing in the information manually. Just select “Scan credit card” just above the keyboard. Once selected, the browser will highlight a frame. Hold your credit card within that frame and it will securely record your payment information.
5. Dark mode
While many things aren’t as black and white as they could be, perhaps life just got a bit simpler. By going to “General” under “Settings” and then tapping “Greyscale,” you can turn your once bright and colorful iPhone screen into 1950’s like TV screen.
