360-Degree Camera for Panoramic Video
Cameras have advanced massively over the past decade or so but this camera appears to be leaps and bounds in front of the competition.
Unlike most cameras this 360 spherical camera named the “Bublcam” doesn’t even need pointing in the correct direction to get those all important shots. That’s because it captures 360 degree panoramic shots of everything around it. It’s not just limited to pictures either; it can take videos as well. This lets you mount the camera on a tripod or your drone even, and it can capture images in every direction.
The “Bublecam” is able to stitch a number of images together and will store them on a micro SD card. Alternatively you can stream video to your PC or mobile using the internal Wi-Fi unit. When viewing the images or video you can move around as though you’re actually inside the images or video, a bit like Google Maps street view, and this is all done in real-time.
Recording at 30fps with 720p resolutions or taking 14 megapixle images will allow for real immersion into the resulting videos or images. While the price of this nifty gadget is close to $600 the company behind it hopes to lower the cost to under $500 by next year and even add 3D capabilities so you can integrate the pictures into a virtual reality headset such as the Oculus Rift. The “Bublecam” should be available from the end of this year.
