Lenovo Creates Google Glass Rival

The Chinese have done it again when it comes to technology. Chinese electronic manufacturer Lenovo has made their own version of Google Glasses, which will do the same tasks but will offer a longer usage time with the adaption of a neck piece that will store a battery. Lenovo is now the world’s biggest seller of PCs when in 2013 it overtook former top dogs HP. Currently, Lenovo has not given a name for this device but it hopes to eliminate Google Glass’s problem of having a short usage time by adding a separate power device around the wearer’s neck.

Lenovo hope that other companies will be encourages to take part in the “internet of things” so devices such as smartphones, refrigerators, toasters and other usage gadgets we use in our everyday life can be all connected via the internet. This process paves the way for connected homes, where appliances can be controlled by apps, and devices can react smartly to their surroundings, such as the heating coming on when it knows you’re almost home. However, compatibility is the biggest challenge facing the growth of the internet of things. As well as its own smart glasses, Lenovo is also working on another device with Vuzix, which is another product in progress that is an air purifier, which can be controlled via a mobile app.
