Amazon to Launch ‘Fire Phone’, its First Mobile Phone
Amazon is set to release their first foray into the phone market. Amazon says it will be packed with two features that will “see and interact with the world through a whole new lens”
These are Firefly and Dynamic Perspective which I will describe in a bit more detail. One of the other big things is the 3D abilities.
Dynamic perspective uses 4 specialized cameras to track the viewers head and then uses this information to adjust the 3D image accordingly. This allows 3D images to appear as though they are bursting out of the screen even if you change your viewing angle. In a demonstration this made details on a map like the Empire States building really come to live as well as allowing for more view possibilities for films and games. You can also use one hand to tile and navigate through information making it easy to browse with one hand.
Firefly can be enabled by pressing and holding a button on the handset, The phone can then recognize e-mail addresses , printed phone numbers, songs, TV episodes, art magazines, movies, QR codes and bar codes allowing the user to then bring up product details and add these items to their wish list or order them on Amazon.com which is fairly nifty.
It has a lot of impressive features such as Dolby surround sound and a rear camera boasting 13MP and a f/2.0 lens however it’s not know how good all this will be as the phones not released until later this week. It suspected to come with a hefty price tag if you want to purchase it of contract so it will be interesting to see how the market responds to this and what the new Dynamic Perspective and Firefly features will bring to the mobile market.
