Top Free Android Apps

As the Google Play store gets larger and the choice of apps appears overwhelming it can be hard to know what the best apps around are. Even with filtering categories like Best Selling, Top Paid and Editors Picks, we have such a wide choice and don’t always have the time to try several apps to find the best ones around.

That’s why we thought it would be nice if we made a list of some of our favorite apps, this is far from definitive list but we hope it’s a good starting point for you and your Android device.

 

BBC News

The BBC News app is a stylish grid based front page letting you scroll between articles organized under handy headings such as Top Stories, World, Business, Sport, Technology and so on. You can add extra topics to the main window to customize the news you see and then scroll left and right, up and down to select the stories you want. You can set updates so you have the latest news wherever you are.

BBC Weather

Another great app from the BBC. You can set several different locations or use your current location. Some of the features are specific to the UK such as hourly forecasts and details for the next 48 hours, where as other are international such as the 3 hourly forecasts which is great for helping you plan the day ahead or get indoors before the rain starts.

Google Map

If you have anything above android 1.6 then this latest update for Google Maps is a must have. It features voice navigation and route calculations so you can predict where you will be and how long your journeys will last.

 

Dropbox

Drop box allows you to put all your videos documents and photos together in a handy backup folder synced to your device so you always have access to them wherever you are.

Files can then be downloaded to your phone where they can be edited or shared. Even if you lose your phone you will have Dropbox on your computer so will not lose your holiday photos, providing you remembered to put them in Dropbox of cause.

Whats APP

This is a cross-platform messaging app allowing you to exchange messages which can be much cheaper than sending an SMS. It’s available for most phones so you can keep with friend no matter what mobile they have and it’s all totally free.

Instagram

Instaragm is hugely popular and it’s easy to see why. You can share moment’s captures on your Android with friends and friends. Each time you open Instagram you will be updated with new images from your friends who also have Instagram.

Taxi! Hailo

This app is for matching passengers and taxis, it’s available in over 16 cities around the world and there are over 30,000 registered taxi drivers so now you can get a cab at the click of a button which makes it much easier to get a lift whenever you want.
