Chinese Banks Venture Into Ecommerce

Normally, we know that a bank will never sell kettles, smartphones, coats, and even shoes; while today we see one of Chinese biggest banks CCB (China Construction Bank) has the guts to break this tradition.

Roughly six months ago, China Construction Bank launched an online store with the domain name of buy.ccb.com, which is like HSBC (Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corp) directly confronts Amazon.

Despite some western banks like Bank of America also operate some online shopping websites which associate with those big retail brick and mortar stores, China Construction Bank’s ambition seems far more than that. It hopes to turn the online store into a big e-commercial platform someday where can allow millions of thousands resellers to make business on that.
