ThL W1+ Android Phone Reviewed

Popular Android website ‘Android Authority’ has written a review about one of Chinavasion’s favorite Android phone, ThL’s W1 Android 4.0. The review is written by a third party who basically strips the phone down and compares, critics and praises different aspect of the phone. A lot of people are very skeptical when purchasing products that have the warning ‘Made In China’ label. However, the technical copywriter that inspects the ThL W1 Android phone says that is has a lot of right the stuff and it deserves to step into the ring with more well known branded phones such as Samsung, especially when you consider the specifications and the price tag that comes with this phone. ThL is not a well known international brand but have experience in the phone industry and it shows, especially for this entry level Android phone. The reviewer compares it to his HTC One S phone and the ThL stood its ground. The tests involve comparing size, with the ThL W1 only being an unnoticeable 1-2mm thicker, and then comparing the sounds they produce from the built-in speaker where almost on par.

Another area that was tested was checking the package contents and the reviewer discoverers the two batteries that are supplied as well as the cables and charging adapter. The dual SIM ability that the ThL W1 raised the reviewer’s eyebrows especially with the capability to connect to 3G networks and being unlocked and unrestricted. WiFi was next review, to check the connectivity of the ThL W1 and even compared it other major branded phones that are also currently on the market. The reviewer discovered to his surprise as most phones and tablets from China usually have a low WiFi connectivity but the THL W1 ended up having a stronger WiFi connection than his own HTC One S phone.

“Using the free “Wifi Analyzer” app from the Google Play Store, I compared the Wi-Fi signals strengths of the W1 with a HTC One S. I was surprised to find that the W1 actually had better Wi-Fi reception than the One S and I was able to wirelessly access the Internet from all around the house and outside without any problems.”

ThL’s W1 phone’s software was reviewed and the writer seemed pleased that the phone wasn’t littered with Chinese apps but instead was kept basic and of course you can use the Android operating system to download additional applications for your phone therefore it is not considered a bad thing to be kept minimal, allowing a self customization.

The performance was an area that was investigated by the reviewer and compared it to his top of the line HTC One S and found the ThL is more comparable with phones such as the Samsung S2, which for a low priced mobile phone with the same software and capabilities isn’t something you can complain about. Also the ThL W1 is faster that some well-known branded opponents such as the LG Optimus 2X, Motrorola ATRIX 4G and the original Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

The last test was using the camera to take photos and as the reviewer admits he is not a natural photographer and has little passion for it. He found that the pictures were good and can always be improved using some of the popular apps such as Instragram or Pixlr.

Overall I think the review is fair and shows that the ThL W1 is a great 4.3 Android mobile phone with an 8 megapixel camera at a great price.
