Google’s Suggested Communities feature for Google+ aims to make it easier to discover new interests

A day after Google launched Google+ Communities, the company hasreleased an update, this time with a new feature called Suggested Communities. Starting today, users are now going to be able to discover new Communities and join them instantly. In addition to that, the company has been rolling out new features all day that will promote Communities both on the network’s sidebar and also in its stream.

A large number of Communities having been created in the last 24 hours and finding them is obviously really important. After all, it doesn’t make any sense to create your own Community if one has already been created around the same topic. That’s why the company has added this new feature to Google+ so now right above the upcoming events and Trending Topics sections, you’ll be able to see three suggested Communities that you might want to participate in.

Here’s Why Facebook Was Down

Facebook’s website went down earlier on Monday. Business Insider’s staff couldn’t reach it from multiple locations and Internet service providers, and people were flocking to Twitter to report the outage. The site came back up after a while.

Sometimes Facebook goes down for interesting reasons—for example, in December 2010, users started noticing strange new, unannounced features in Facebook photos. Facebook took its own site down to remove code for the new features that had crept into the public site by mistake.

The New Facebook for Android Has Been Rebuilt from Scratch, Is Twice as Fast as the Old App

Android: Facebook just took the wraps off of a new version of its Android app today, and you’ll want to download it. It’s much, much faster than the previous version, mostly because Facebook has rewritten the app from the ground up, ditching HTML5 and optimizing the app for Android.

Speed is the only major change here—everything else is essentially identical to the old app. After updating, you’ll notice pretty quickly that the app loads, scrolls, and just works faster than the previous version. Photos even load faster, liking and commenting on friends’ posts is faster, and even scrolling feels more smooth.
