After more than a decade of overlapping letters and colors, Ebay has redesigned its logo. The colors are still more or less the same but the letters have undergone a significant overhaul today. The disorderly letter arrangement has to step aside for a much more rigid arrangement. The letters are no longer overlapping but still touching each other, which is a subtle representation of Ebay’s “connected and diverse” community.
Much like every other company today, Ebay is making an attempt to go with a design that’s flat, streamlined and sleek. The new logo will be rolled out across eBay’s web properties from October.

Completely unnecessary. The old logo was recognizable and modern. I don’t see why they should mimic Windows 8 metro style… Just to prove Bill Gates owns it as well?
