Friday FAQ image
Life in China and at Chinavasion continues at its usual frenetic pace despite the torrential storms we’ve been having all week. Here’s the best of this week:

Jing Zhang, our eBay wizard, finished off showing everyone what not to do when selling on eBay with part 2 of his blog: You’re Doing It Wrong! 10 Ways To Lose Money On eBay (Part 2). If you sell online you really need to check this out!

We also announced the winners of our exciting Chinavasion Revamp Competition, so congratulations once again for the lucky 10 who are staunch supporters of our online material, in particular the Chinavasion Youtube Channel. If you haven’t visited, get yourselves over there now for a look at our cool new videos and you might even spot some of the Chinavasion staff in action!

Finally, we launched a new category for Portable GPS. If you don’t know what these are, or haven’t seen them before…in which rainforest have you been living?! Forget your car-mounted GPS which simply shows a map. These little media-monsters do almost everything, from playing video and audio, ebook readers and wifi internet surfing. You can literally keep the world in your pocket! Check them out HERE.

Here are some of the customer questions we’ve been asked recently:

When does the 12 month warranty start from?

To avoid any confusion at all, the Chinavasion Warranty policy is as follows: The warranty period begins from the receipt of the goods by the initial consignee. In the case of resellers, this is when the vendor receives the goods from Chinavasion. The period is exactly 365 days from that time.

For example, a product on the 365th day is covered, but a product on the 366th is no longer covered. If you need any support from us please contact us with all your order details and item code at .

Will Chinavasion phones work in India?

Yes, you can use Chinavasion mobiles in India!
There has been much talk recently about whether China made cellphones will work in India given the Indian government’s recent decision to ban cell phone service to all non-nationally registered cellphones.

The heart of the issue involves IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) numbers. Basically, every cellphone in the world comes with a unique IMEI number that helps cellular companies route the calls to your handset.

The problem with non-India made phones is that their manufacturers do not register the IMEI numbers with the India goverment or for that matter, other governments since doing so would require too much time and expense.

One solution is available:

  • Visit only authorised GII (Genuine IMEI Implant) centres, set up on Government approved process, which can implant new genuine IMEI on the handset.
  • Pay a nominal charge of Rs 199 (all inclusive) and obtain a receipt.
  • Carry your handset with a valid identity Proof for identification purposes while visiting these centres.
  • Invalid IMEI will not work, regardless of the network the customer is currently on.

This solution is taken from this article: (vodafone.in/existingusers/products/moreproducts/pages/gsmmobile_imei.aspx) which also has a list of participating GSM agents.

Then you’ll be able to use your China phones in India. Great news for resellers, since India is one of the main importers of Chinese made mobile phones.

    Chinavasion Phones to India, vodafone.in/existingusers/products/moreproducts/pages/gsmmobile_imei.aspx
this link is outdated one. The amnesty scheme by Government of India ended on 29 Nov 2009.

Its illegal now to register an invalid IMEI in India. The govt approved registration centres are closed now.
