The El Portal Cell Phone: Installing Skype

The El Portal is one great Smartphone, in fact there are lots of great windows smartphones coming from China Mobile makers out there that work on the Windows 6.5 operating system.

Skype is great too. Unfortunately Skype doesn’t like Windows smart phones and will tell you so when you try to download Skype for Mobiles on your El Portal phone (support.skype.com/en/faq/fa10411/Why-can-t-I-download-Skype-Lite-or-Skype-for-Windows-phones).

We’ve chosen to withdraw Skype Lite and Skype for Windows phones because we want to offer our new customers an improved mobile experience – much like the version that has proved so popular on the iPhone, and which is now available on Symbian phones. Our focus is on providing a rich user experience that allows you to enjoy free Skype-to-Skype and low cost calls as easily on the move as you do at your desktop. We felt that Skype Lite and Skype for Windows phones were not offering the best possible Skype experience.

But Skype didn’t foresee the happy hackers at Chinavasion coming up with a work around that will allow you to install and use Skype on your Windows smartphone without limitation.

WARNING!

Your phone needs to be running the Windows Mobile 6.5 OS for this hack to work.

Step 1a, Get ActiveSync

if you haven’t already

Make sure ActiveSync is installed on your PC.

If you don’t have ActiveSync installed, it’s in the CD disk which came with the phone.

Step 1, Obtain Skype

Since you can’t download Skype from your mobile phone, we’ve taken the liberty to acquire the program through our hacker connections and have uploaded it here: sharingmatrix.com/file/9207493/SkypeMobile.exe

Please download it to your PC and then connect your smartphone to the computer.

Make sure ActiveSync is switched on You did download and install it right?

Step 2 Double-click on the Skype Installer

On your PC, double click the Skype installer and you’ll be prompted to install Skype for Window Mobile phones into your ActiveSync folder on your PC.

Step 3 ActiveSync Install on your El Portal

Now that we’ve installed the Skype mobile installer on your PC, it’s time to actually install Skype on your El Portal.

Fortunately the process is seamless. The moment you press finish, an ActiveSync dialogue box will prompt you to install Skype to your phone as seen here.
