Things have been busy at Chinavasion.

Not only did we reveal that it might be too soon to be looking at eBooks, Android devices and tablets in our blog Tech Gadgets Tips: Early Bird Gets The Burn With EBooks, Android And Tablets we looked at how you could level up faster in the blog Buying Discount Electronics Hints For Everyone.

You might have seen Hardware Sphere take a look at our WiFi Projector. Well, Ken from Hardware Sphere is giving it away to one lucky person who chooses to sign up to his blog. Visit Hardwaresphere to be in to win this fantastic projector.

But without further ado lets look at some of the more common questions we saw this week.

The payment I sent you is a little bit short because a change in shipping method/a few extra accessories I wanted, How can I compensate you?

You make the payment in exactly the same way that you made the purchase with one exception:

Please ALWAYS reference the original order number in Paypal. It will allow us to find the payment easier and process your order faster.

I tried to get my location from my GPS tracker but it doesn’t work, what can I do?

GPS trackers as tech gadgets are like economists. They’re handy things to have and they’ve got all the right numbers but sometimes they come to the wrong point.

When reading data from your GPS tracker and feeding it into your software or an online service like Google Earth or Google Maps make sure you have the point in the right place.

For our software all GPS coordinates should look like 24.50005

However, if you’re putting the coordinates into Google Earth then the longitude will have two numbers in front of the decimal point while the latitude will have three numbers in front of the decimal point.

For more information on GPS Navigation page check out our GPS explained page.

You’ve always got the latest gadgets. What products should I watch out for in the near future?

How cool would it be to take a sound sensor attach it to a colorful, dynamic LED display and then put it in a shirt?

Fingerprint Door Lock Sleek (Right) [CVPW-J30-Right]

Biometric door locks have never been more affordable or secure.

And they don’t come much better than the
Fingerprint Door Lock Sleek

  • If I cut my finger, will the unit still work?
We suggest you register 2 different fingers on each hand to avoid this problem, or open the door by password or key.
  • Can anyone enroll himself and have access to the system?
No, only the person who knows the 8 digit master code (or is the administrator fingerprint – the 00 fingerprint) is authorized to enroll new users.
  • How long will the lock last on a single set of batteries?
Under normal use (10-15 accesses per day) the fingerprint lock should operate for a year on a single set of alkaline batteries.
  • Do I have to reconfigure the lock when I replace the batteries?
No, the system configuration and user information/data are saved in a non-volatile flash memory data and may be stored indefinitely without the need of batteries.
  • If my finger gets dirty will it still work?
The fingerprint sensor uses RF techniques to collect data from below the skin, therefore the reading ability is not affected by dirty. It is advisable, however, to wipe dirt and sand off prior to swiping to avoid scratching the sensor’s protective surface.
  • The battery is dead and I left the key is at home, what do I do?!
There is a 9V battery connector located below the door knob at the bottom frame of the unit; a simple connection using a 9V battery will bring it back to life.
  • Is the CVPW-J30 waterproof?
No, but it is weatherproof, meaning any moist build up from fog or frost should be fine. It is not advised to install this security lock in un-sheltered areas where direct contact with rain, hail, or snow is likely.
  • I heard this security gadget has a tamper alarm and latch bolt alarm, what is that?
Tamper Alarm: If the exterior set outside is damaged by outside force, the buzzer will give off a continuous beep for alarming. Great for knowing when someone has tried breaking in and scaring thieves off.
Latch Bolt Alarm: If the door is not properly closed and the latch bolt is pressed into the lock set, the alarm will sound. Useful as a reminder that the door has not been closed properly.

  • I saw the red light but I still forgot to change the battery and the key is at home, what do I do?!
There is a 9V battery connector located below the door knob at the bottom frame of the unit; a simple connection using a 9V battery will bring it back to life.
  • I followed the instructions exactly but my fingerprints aren’t being read, what’s going on?
This unit uses a swipe sensor, which is different from a press sensor. You need to slowly swipe your finger down the fingerprint reader.
  • Where is the key hole?
On the door handle. Lift the plunger on the rear side of the exterior handle up and slide the cover to the right.
