It’s been a busy week for us here at Chinavasion.
We’ve slashed prices on our LED Watches (Read more about it in the blog Attn Resellers, Chinavasion LED Watch Deals Just Got Better) And put out an APB for up and coming models (Attn Resellers, Chinavasion LED Watch Deals Just Got Better).
We also got a lot of questions and we are answering some of the more common ones below so the whole world can see.
So read on as we look at visits to the Chinavasion office, and the firmware.
Can I buy stuff at your office in Shenzhen?
Unfortunately for visitors and Shenzhen/Hong Kong locals Chinavasion itself doesn’t have a walk in store.
If you would like to pick up your order at our Shenzhen office, please place the order online, make the payment at least one day in advance and send us a ticket or call us at +86 755 26451869 at least one day in advance so that we can have everything ready for you.
We can show visitors samples of items we have in stock, but the selection is often not representative of the full range of 900+ products we sell. If you don’t preorder samples we can’t guarantee we have what you need to look at / take away.
Can I visit your office in Shenzhen?
While we will be more than happy for you to come and visit us it is important for you to call in advance and let us know that you are coming.
Send us a ticket or call us at 0086 755 2664 6268 at least one day in advance so that we can have everything ready for you.
Can I get the firmware for the …./Can I flash the firmware for the ….
As a rule we do not offer firmware updates for any of our products and flashing the firmware will result in the warranty of the product being voided.
Product Review
Chinavasion has never had as good a car DVD available as the King Cobra
It really has WIFI?
Yes, it has WIFI right out of the box.
How does it work? The unit ships with a USB WIFI dongle.
Insert it in the car DVD unit’s USB port and you’re good to go.
Do I need a SIM card?
No, because you’re not using WAP, GPRS, or a data plan to surf the net. You’re using WIFI. It’s free and that’s what so cool about this unit.
How do I activate WIFI?
From the main menu, you’ll have access to the WIN CE 5.0 operating system.
Yes, unlike other car DVD players, this one gives you access to the OS so you can install additional software.
How cool is that?!
Once you’re in Windows CE, you press the WIFI icon and search for hotspots. Once you’ve found one, you CONNECT. If there’s a password, the onscreen virtual keyboard will let you enter one. If there’s no password required, then you immediately connect.
Could I use my USB WIFI dongle?
That shouldn’t be a problem. But why not use the one that’s included. It’s made for 802.11 b/g connections.
What Internet Browser does the King Cobra come with?
Internet Explorer.
I have a web connection in my car, what good is that for?
You could install VOIP apps so you can talk for free over the internet. You could display stock quotes in real time. You could receive email instantly. The possibilities are endless.
Can I access WEP, WPA, and WPA2 hotspots with this car DVD player?
Yes, yes you can.
Can I connect the WIFI to my laptop?
We got this question yesterday and I thought I’d include it for the sake of clearing up a lot of confusion about WIFI and what it’s about. Included with your car DVD player is a USB WIFI dongle. It is this device that wirelessly connects to the Internet by communicating with routers in the proximity. If you want to connect to the Internet using your laptop, just remove the USB WIFI dongle from the car DVD player and plug it into your laptop.
Can I attach a physical keyboard to the car DVD player instead of using the virtual one?
Sorry about that. We’re working on it. It’s just that WIN CE being a mobile device oriented operating system doesn’t play with keyboards. Long story short, we tried, but couldn’t get it to work.
For a bigger list of questions visit the Chinavasion FAQ page or to ask your own question leave a comment to this blog (provided you don’t mind the whole world knowing about it).
We’ll answer them here and, if they’re good enough we may even re-publish them in a future Friday FAQ.
