Here is a kind of fear-mongering but technologically quite interesting news story. The discussion on slashdot.org provides some quite balanced discussion to help followers of geek news. From a business point of view as well as technology, it is interesting to learn about how completely dominant the China component and product manufacturers are, even if you are not too much into the conspiracy theories.
Most amusing quote from commenters:
strongly suspect that this unnamed pentagon analyst is being paid to spread disinformation. Such disinformation would serve the purpose of keeping the american public sucking the tit of the Department of Homeland Security’s fear juice
Companies like Huwaie and ZTE are proped up by the Chinese government. They have a big advantage over other telecom equipment vendors so USA are right to have such a stance.
I think it is more a statement derived from the knowledge that China is a very strong, technological powerhouse in many areas. We should perhaps read from it that some in the US are afraid they may have lost the edge.
Ok. What about Australia banning Huawei from public sector projects.? Is this also spreading of disinformation ???
